Overclock Your Modem, Or Router

I have a friend who, one time, said that he "overclocks" his cable modem. How does he accomplish this bizarre task? He goes into Napster and sets his connection type to "T3."

This, he says, makes his cable modem run as fast as a T3, but it gets "quite warm."
